Perfect Peace

You keep him in perfect peace
Whose mind is stayed on You
All else I need to release
To hold on to what is true

For unless You hold me close
I cannot stand a moment
How can it be that You chose
Me to receive atonement

The path is traps and deserts
I wander far too often
Yet, O God, my Good Shepherd,
Your love my heart does soften

How I long for distant shores
And to be but Yours alone
Thank you for the breath You pour
In this cage of driest bone

Humbly I serve my High Priest
Who bids me come when I roam
Keep me in Your perfect peace
And lead me to my true home
